what's the difference between an OFR and a tremelo on like a strat? is the strat trem. not floating? does that mean on a start i'd be able to switch tunings without it going all out of whack?

Re: Really stupid question about tremelos..

If you mean a 6 point strat trem. then yes, you are correct on both your assumptions.

The Strat vibrato (Fender incorrectly calls in a "tremolo") needs to be set up flush to the bridge, in other words down only, for this to work. When it is flush, you can change tunings, when you break a string the other 5 will stay in tune, and in my opinion, the tone is better than when it is set up to float.

Not necessarily true... as mike hinted on, a strat tram can be (and from the factory is) set up to float as well... it´s merely easier to set a strat trem for down only than it is a Floyd ;)
