Really thinking about saying fudge it and going back to my old rig....

Re: Really thinking about saying fudge it and going back to my old rig....

I never owned a Pitbull 45, but I let one slip through my fingers once and I'm STILL bummed. It's a great amp, with some of my favorite cleans ever (and my favorite from a VHT/Fryette).

If there's something I regret selling, it's my Mesa Single Rec stack. I retubed it, and it just wasn't the same. Instead of considering my options I just sold it like a moron, and tried a bunch of heads that I didn't like as much and didn't hold on to. The cab went with the head, and it while it was old the tolex was still great and the speakers were perfectly broken in.

Come to think of it, I think a thread talking about amps that you sold and DON'T miss would be pretty cool...

I sold a Marshall JTM, the 3 speaker combo, to get the Pittbull, didn't regret it at all......Had a friend who had the same amp from the same store, no issues with it, the one I got was cursed from out of the box.....I'll never regret getting rid of it....

That sort of reminds me of my H&K Triamp. I loved the first two (amp?) channels, but I could never find a setting that worked on channel 3. It was scooped and either too boomy, or shrill and fizzy. Not to mention that it seemed as heavy as an SVT even though it 'only' weighed 65lbs.

Kicked myself for selling my '61 Gibson GA-8...had righteous overdrive, but I wanted more low end. Didn't know much about speaker swapping back then. Bought a '62 Epiphone Devon, the same circuit, but it just didn't sound as good. About 2 years ago I tracked down another '61 GA-8. Sounds even better than my first one!

I've owned 3 different Traynor YBA's. Sold the first YBA-1 to get a YBA-1A. Man, the second one was a wonderful beast. Sold it due to financial reasons. Bought another YBA-1, earlier model. Once again, the third time around I have found an even better sounding amp. But I'm still tracking down some metallic ringing noise. Going to recap it and put on a grounded cord.
