Really want a fretless with a metal fingerboard.

Re: Really want a fretless with a metal fingerboard.

ya know, I don't mean to hijack the thread into something other than metal fretless fretboards, but I had this idea a while ago when I thought I was going to be a shredder, but hated tall frets because I was stupid. Why not make a glass fretboard using cloisonne techniques? You could have all sorts of fret delineations built into the design, then wet-sand it down to radius.

Here's an example of cloisonne, which is, in it's original form, melted glass poured into glass relief and polished. It's an ancient artform in both occidental and oriental history.

i think all guitarist should atleast try a fretless guitar/bass once, for the amazing feel it provides. besides the limitless slides that everyone is so crazy about, the attack tone of notes is so addictively unreal. I think it is because of the fingers of the fretting hand in contact with the string. playing in tune is usually bit hard low down the neck (chords are an absolute bi?ch) but gets progressively easy as u go high up the neck with intervals being comfortably spaced. though the fret markers are absent on the fingerboard face there are the side dots to help u where to put ur fingers. the finger rolling vibrato is really worth killing for. and i feel it is sort of easier to shred on them and sound really nice and mellow doing it.

I like ideas and out of the box thinking. Get on that job

I've played a Vigier just like the one Govan's got in the vid and I really enjoyed it. Everything he's saying is true and accurate. It's actually not that hard to play per se, but you do need to have a good ear for intonation or you're going to be in trouble. I'd love to grab one and put some weird effects on it to make it sound like another instrument like a synth or something.
