I just bought a dsl 201 and heard somewhere that combo's are made with particle board mostly.
Wouldn't it sound better if it was made with a good wood box.

Has anybody rebuilt a combo box?

Re: Rebuilt combo box amp

It kinda depends on how much you want to invest in the amps. You can probably get someone to build you a new box for 250 or so. If you really loved the 201 tone and wanted to keep it for a long time, you might even think of going with some sort of hardwood. A good pine box seems to be the ticket on a lot of amps, even though Marshall used birch ply on their amps (better than the MDF stuff you've got now)
