Reccomend me a good tube head...

Re: Reccomend me a good tube head...

:D! That zvex is so cool. Unfortunately I'd need 10 of them to get 50 watts! :D.

It's too bad that fender don't make a hot rod head. I bet it would sell like crazy if they did!

I don't mind if the gain on the amp isn't the best, just as long as the amp can take quite a bit of gain from pedals.

Nice to hear that your 212 took pedals well, why did you get rid of it?

Re: Reccomend me a good tube head...

Four bumps in a row? I think I might as well close the thread soon, but I've got some ideas so that's okay.
Laney GH50L or the Sovtek MIG 50 or the Trace Elliot Speed Twin H50.
I am also considering a hot rod deluxe/deville combo.

Re: Reccomend me a good tube head...

Are Trace British? I thought I read somewhere they were. And do you know if the H50 is hand wired like some of the other amps in the Speed Twin line?

Yes, the Trace's are British. I don't think any of them are handwired, they have too much going on circuit-wise.

Re: Reccomend me a good tube head...

Oh okay. I was just wandering because someone said they were earlier in the thread. I thought it sounded too good to be true.

suislide, it's a deal. I don't particularly want it either..

Re: Reccomend me a good tube head...

Idea:
Get a GH50L, fit it with 6L6s and run a verbzilla in the effects loop! Especially on the '63 spring setting to make it sound more fendery.
Both bought together would come out the same price as a new HRD, if not a little cheaper.

What do you think?
