I guess we're just about all on the same page here. I've been using the MXR 10 band for about 5 years now with no complaints at all. As was said, the real selling points are the vol and gain sliders, plus it's very quiet, solid as a rock, will last for years (maybe the rest of your life), sculpts your tone anyway you want it.
I used to use it in front of the amp, but it is much more effective and sounds better in the effects loop. It's one of the best investments in your tone that you can make. Easily adjusts to the particular tonal qualities of each venue.
Yep, can't go wrong with the MXR 10 band.
