you're right about the other ibanez series, have you looked at any of the sig models? the PGM, JS, and AT models all have something well below the $1000 mark, and i think the AT stuff has quite a thick neck by ibanez's standards..

oh yeah - some of the RGs have thick necks - i played an RGT2020 (which i now desperately want second hand), and it had a wider and fatter neck than my 50s profile strat neck.. it was amazingly comfortable and meaty!

Well, the cheaper Satriani and Gilbert models don't look so nice to me. The better Satriani models could be pretty nice, but pricey, surprisingly. The AT ones were too much, and the cheaper wasn't as attractive.

Some of those high-end RGs do look nice, especially the RG3120 and RGT220 models. Just a tiny bit out of my price range, unfortunately. There's a RGT3120 used for 1250€ at a shop, and I'm quite tempted to say the least!

hmm.. parker? less cosmetically 'metal' than ibanez, but an all black one can look pretty sick.. aker****e play them.. whats the distribution like on them near you?

Hmm... It appears that they don't have a finnish distributor, Thomann doesn't have them either. A pity. I'd like to have tried them beforehand, though, which such modern designs.

I'm not necessarily looking for a guitar that looks like metal, just something that looks nice.

Thanks for the thought, bummer that I can't find them anywhere. Any other thoughts? I really appreciate them!

Ever considered a Yamaha ? I own one of its pacifica 921 and intending to get the 604. Japanese made. The Pacifica USA2, one which Mike Frilkens' using is also another preferred one.

Yep, I've considered Yamaha. I've been learing a bit more towards the RGX-series as the Pacs are quite similar to the Jackson I already own. We'll see what I get!
