Recommend me a rack EQ

The budget is about 150, I want complete transperency, no tone suckage, no boost needed(I think, I use TS9 infront, SD booster for the leads) I just want my lows in mids balanced for rythm and leads as I use same signal process for the leads and rythm just SD booster to cut through during the leads. Thanks dudes.

Andy Sneap is using Behringer EQ.It's cheap and not bad.Yamah do some good stuff too.Best BAng for the buck IMO

It may be difficult to get "complete transparency" for $150, but I'd go with either of these two:

DBX 131: DBX is a rock solid unit with a good reputation for quality. Its a 3rd-octave equalizer in a rack mount.

Personally, I'd prefer a parametric EQ for this app, like this:
PreSonus-EQ3B: The price is right, but it isn't rack mount. (Perhaps they sell an adaptor kit.

+1 for parametric EQ.

If you can find a beat up old Rocktron ProQ for $150, you won't be disappointed. It's extremely powerful, and totally transparent when the values are at zero. It's basically a lo/hi shelving with parametric mids. If you're running mono, then you can daisy chain the two channels together and of course you'd leave the treble and bass alone on one of them, but you'd have a stacked parametric midrange band. Plus there's hush in there if you want it. A real light hush setting doesn't interfere with anything tonally. There's also a weird Phase feature, that is sort of a variable crossover BBE circuit. I don't use it often, but it's not a bad thing. It doesn't impart anything negative to the sound, just a different phase relationship between the lows and highs, allowing you to manipulate how they'll penetrate the speaker cone. It's programmable and bypassable.

I love dBx stuff for the PA, and Presonus gear has always been great with my acoustics.

I really don't understand parametrics, and in one of the books I have on gear its says that graphic EQ for live performances is better option than parametric, so .... I am thinking of having it as the last thing before reverb .... I am planing to get ISP decimator so the hush options are not a must either. Also have no idea what a daisy a chain is. But would love to hear more guys, thanks.

The book you have seems irrelevant to guitar tone. I'm sure they are referring to using a graphic EQ in a PA system, to cut feedback and precisely tune the acoustic properties of a room. I'm not saying a graphic EQ is wrong for you, but the statement your book made is totally irrelevant.

I don't have the book in question infront of me but(not home), its said that the visual of the graphics somehow is better than the parametric approach something like that I might be wrong, so parametric does it do same thing that graphic or different ??

I would grab some old used TC stuff from their old series!

Forgive me for old moronic me, but are there rack parametrics too, I've only tend to remember graphic ones. The reason I am asking for a rack version is because rack stuff like reverb/Eq are more of a constant thing that rarely(at least in my experience) need adjustment depending on the venue, EQ on the amp's front panel usually, in my experience, solve the "venue" issues during the sound check. So my reasoning on this is with rack unit EQ in the loop you really tweak the tone before it is released into the cab and just let it be a "fixed" dial in.

There are rack parametrics. The flexibility issue is a bit of a give and take. It depends on how many areas you want to cut and boost. The center point, width and boost/cut are all assigned by you in the parametric eq. With a traditional 31 band you do not get the flexibility of adjusting the center point or width of the eq range you wish to modify. However, it does give you 31 points you can modify (many irrelevant to guitar). I use both at various times, but find I use my dBx dual 31 band most frequently with my rack using different eq setting per channel. So it depends on what you want to do here really. The 10 band eq pedal can be attached to a rack drawer for that matter, and it does work well.
