Recommend me another fuzz (...where is the fuzz love on this forum ?)

Re: Recommend me another fuzz (...where is the fuzz love on this forum ?)

Does anyone know anything about the Carl Martin, "THE FUZZ" - the name sounds SERIOUS !

A buddy from the UK (ex-South African) told me he has GAS for one.

Re: Recommend me another fuzz (...where is the fuzz love on this forum ?)

Just googled this "pedal" too - what is it ?

James

All the 60s in one pedal:D
Must fun of gear I ever have tried!!
And I do this for a living:D

Yeah man, it's a lot of fun in one pedal.

Octron octave + Fuzz Foot fuzz + ProVibe vibrato/chorus all in one

Go to the Miscellaneous section of the left hand side & read all about it...tons of clips too !

They have been discontinued now & are going up in price, so if it looks like something you might want, look for a deal now !

Not only is the CC2 a great Vibe and Octavia, the fuzz features "fuzz cards" so you can swap out different fuzz circuits. It comes stock with the Si/Ge hybrid, and he still offers fuzz cards in his Hot Silicon and Germanium varieties. Also, AnalogMan offers fuzz cards that fit as well, so you can plug one of his NKT-275 Sun Face circuit into it.

If the pedal is sooo popular, why discontinue it ???

D*A*M Meathead. You'll love it, trust me.

Re: Recommend me another fuzz (...where is the fuzz love on this forum ?)

This one sounds pretty crazy (check out the sound sample. It has a more modern/aggressive tone).

My favorite balls out wild sound samples are from the DBA (Death By Audio) Supersonic Fuzz Gun. I think the thing could be a "career in a box" for an industrial music guitar player. The sound samples at the bottom of the page are quite extreme:

I like the beginning of the "bad arse" and "sizzle" soundclips!

The Homwbrew Electronics UFO/Fuzz is a modern/agressive 4 transistor silicon unit, with uber gain on tap, an up-octave (which I like), and is super quiet for all the effort. It has a vintage/modern switch. I find it more useful on the vintage setting. There is plenty of bottom end on this unit compared to other boxes.

The HBE UFO and the Fulltone UO are bosed clones of the old Fozz tone Machine and both are pretty dang good!

I wanted to get the Foxx years ago, this was before the reissue and I ended up with the Fulltone UO...great unit, killer high gain fuzz wiht some added features and the footswitchable octave is killer!

Thank you for the links !

I have a Superfuzz, and i love the various tones i get from it !

But that FuzzGun, man, i think you are spot on when you say it might only be for an Industrail band (incl. some of the Effector 13 stuff i looked into earlier).
Not my type of fuzz :thumbsdow

Don't get me wrong though...

...i am on the look out for vintage & modern sounding fuzz-boxes, but they must have some sort of musical quality to them !!!

Random "noisemakingmachines" is not for me !

Please keep them comming !

Re: Recommend me another fuzz (...where is the fuzz love on this forum ?)

Try a Roger Mayer fuzz, I love them.

Re: Recommend me another fuzz (...where is the fuzz love on this forum ?)

I also would not mind having the FuzzFactory, but right now, is still a little too steep, price wise - i'll wait for a bargain on a used one.

Some guys said i must look inot the Peperment Fuzz.
Is that a White Stripes-in-a-box / knock-off ???
If it is, why not sell the Big Muff in redn'white swirly colours ?
ZVEX offers a "Vexter" version of the Fuzz Factory, silk screened instead of hand painted, I think soldered overseas instead of in America. It's still around $180 I think, but on ebay you should get a better deal.

I believe The Pepermint Fuzz is based off of some of the Japanese fuzz units, it gets the name from the song Incense and Peppermint.

mmm ....... looks like both will go onto my "look into" file then !

Just how popular is the FuzzFactory ?
Any BIG NAMES out there using/recording with it ?
I am just curious, as ever since i started to look into fuzz pedals online, i see/hear/read soooo much about them, even on youtube, but i can not find any artist using it, and with all the comotion over it, it sounds like it is the next "Big Muff" !?

Thanks

Re: Recommend me another fuzz (...where is the fuzz love on this forum ?)

CM the Fuzz is more of a distortion unit, with fuzzy qualities......
I should know:D
Anyways the Foxrox Coconut was made by one man alone, and it takes time, too much success is not good either.
Anyways the fuzz in that thing was more to my likings, than alot of the other things I have tried!
The Fulltones are ok, but next to the Foxrox....well that is another league!

WELL...........

1) Dave Fox is a 1-man shop
2) They are completely hand-made & very time comsuming
3) Between components & the time it took to build, it was hard to keep the price in a "sellable" range.

All combined, he was having a hard time making the other pedals & getting them out in a timely manner, so he put the CC on "hiatus".

He DOES still buld the Hot Silicon Fuzz & the sound clips sound baddd a$$$$.....$$$ being the operative portion of that sentence.

His prices are high but the pedal is a superb build.

Not sure if you can swap cards on the stand alone pedals, but I'm gonna be set with the additional fuzz cards & expression pedal :D

It was basically designed to be Jimi Hendrix in a box... minus the Vox Wah. But everything there was designed off of his equipment and sound

Re: Recommend me another fuzz (...where is the fuzz love on this forum ?)

And old Jeff Beck, and so on!

:D
Never had so much fun with any effects like this one!
I do not have gas often for anything....but Daves pedals...they are the bomb!

Thank you for the behind the scene's info !

Does anyoe know if these CC will ever comeout of "hiatus", and back into production ? Even by limited numbers ?

EDIT :

No way . . . are these prices correct, or do we have "chancers" trying to make a quick buck ?

http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?ht=1&from=R4&satitle=captain+coconut&sacat=619&catref=C6

$500.00 and still going ?
Where is this bid gonna stop ? $1000.00 ???
Guys, is a multi-fuzz really worth that type of money ?

Re: Recommend me another fuzz (...where is the fuzz love on this forum ?)

Well, it was never a cheap pedal, add to that it's a great unit, limited production, now out of production, and various threads like these all but guarantee a high price. Look at it like a Jimi in a Box pedal. If you don't need the Vibe (big portion of the CC) it's only a Fuzz Face and Octavia in there. He still sells the Hot Fuzz seperately (if you want a great Si Fuzz Face) and Analogman's Ge Sun Face is a great Ge FF, so do you really need it? Tough to tell...

BTW - It's been out of production for about a year now. It taught me a lesson about buying things I want... I always had lusted over the CC2 but never bought it because it was too much at the moment. Then Dave stopped production and I realized if I want something, get it while it's available. I ended up finding one on a forum for a little above previous retail but below ebay market value. I decided to get the AM fuzz because his transistor supply IS limited, and I didn't want to be on the outside looking in.
