I think i've decided what to do with my guitar amp GAS.
Since my friends have been talking me into saving some money for important stuff (education, drivers license, apartment rent), i don't think i'm gonna spend $3000 on a guitar amp.
Instead, i've decided to buy a Vox ToneLab SE, use my old Peavey head as an amp, and bulid myself a good 1x12" cab to go with it. I just need to decide what speaker i want.
I've had some very good experiences with Fane Studio speakers. They just sound very balanced, warm, and clean. Not clean to the point of paper\brittle mids and harsh treble, but just warm, sweet, and gooey. But then again, i don't think Fane Studio's are being made anymore, which leads me to find a different model, though high quality speaker.
What i'm NOT looking for, is a speaker that "farts" when playing loud clean notes, or turn to mush when playing several notes in a row under distortion. Several cabs i've tried had that problem, it just sounded like the speaker were about to blow when you hit a note hard, a muffled "thud" sound.
So, if you know of any good guitar, PA, even Hifi 12" speakers, please let me now. I'd greatly appreciate any advice.
Thanks!
