Recording a slow process

Re: Recording a slow process

lol, TO its your job!

I've played 3 gigs my whole life... another two coming up this week then I leave that band so my next gigs will be wayyy in the future when i find decent musicians to fill the slots in my band

Re: Recording a slow process

well i usually dont really take so much time in my recordings(as some of you may have noticed :D ) cause i know my recording equipment is crap so now matter what i do it just end up the way i dont want it. so i just deal with it and get the best i can with my stuff. :)

Re: Recording a slow process

Yeah, I think it's a matter of being well prepared. I once had a very bad stage experience because I was badly prepared, and I still think about it. On the other hand, I had a fabulous experience at a bigger venue (500 people, that was big at the time for me) and it was awesome. I even played in prison for about 300 prisoners once... well, that time, it was plain fright, stage or not, these guys all looked like freakin' serial killers :laugh2: But they were very cool, very gratefull for the show. Great experience.

Re: Recording a slow process

500 + 300-person gigs is great!!!! I've played so-called 'festivals' which are highly regarded in the metal underground, for far less people ...

Re: Recording a slow process

Yeah, those were my biggest shows back then... when you see 500 people sitting in an audience, it's very cool. It looks like more.

I haven't made a show since the mid 80s... so I'm your typical "has been". I wish that I could do a show now with my level of playing and increased confidence. I would have more fun for sure. Damn, I'd play in a half-pack bar just for the fun of it. Not in a wedding though. I know a lot of people do it anyway, but this is beyond the limit of my pride. I still prefer playing for myself in front of a computer than palying at a wedding :) But it's just me.

Re: Recording a slow process

It's not too hard to get gigs for a half packed bar near me, my bands first gig was to about 20 friends in a pub and we had a blast.

we got a fiver each for it from the guy who owned it but i didnt care coz it was good fun

Re: Recording a slow process

Unfortunately, I've never played a 'for fun' gig :(
All these damn festivals, or opening for big national acts ... lol
Sounds cool, but I would love to play a pool party just once!!

Re: Recording a slow process

Recording definetely takes a long time for me... But the more you do it, the better you get with the technical side, and then you can focus on the actual playing. I like to write away from my PC (My recording "station") because I can hammer out a whole song and like the parts and then work on realizing my visions with my recordings.

If I'm at the computer, I always feel pressured to get out a product, ASAP, or I record things I like and just leave unfinished bits everywhere. Recording definetely takes patience, even when you already know what you want to play and how you want it to sound.
