recording with amp modelers (line6 etc)

Re: recording with amp modelers (line6 etc)

Pod doesnt have the same amount of effects and much less control over them.

however, it has more amps (32 i think)
more cabs (15 + a bypass i think)
and as you know, you can use it with your amp.

if you get a pod try and get the fb4 foot pedal (4 channel changer) so you get a makeshift 4 channel amp :D

Re: recording with amp modelers (line6 etc)

naw, i settled with the guitar port.. as you said you got more and a bit easier controll over the effects and amps plus i basically just want to record with it.. quality sound pretty much comes with it right ;)

Re: recording with amp modelers (line6 etc)

wow, i must be in the minority.

i have no clue what all this means.
soundcard?
all that other crap

by the way, i use a crappy walmart mic to my computer mic jack. and i ahve crappy tone!!! :headbang:

Re: recording with amp modelers (line6 etc)

lol, we figured that out already moom ;)

i'm a tone perfectionist.. i want everything to sound just perfect.. thing is, it's hard to sound great when you're broke >.<

Re: recording with amp modelers (line6 etc)

if you're really serious about recording, get a Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum 2 EX or ZS. Then you can mic your amp with a Shure SM57, if you need a preamp/phantom power unit, i recommend a Behringer Shark for not thinning out your wallet (which the audigy will do). It will give you built-in compression, speaker delay, microphone pre-amp with phantom power, noise gate, low cut filter and clean feedback elimination. It's around 60 dollars. With the ZS or EX you really dont need it, but with it's features, it's nice to have. CEP2 will work wonderfully (that's what I use, in conjunction with other software and upgrades). To mic voice, I suggest something like a Behringer B-1 mic. If you have a POD, that's excellent. If you don't, look into it :), you can plug it in through the MIDI on the soundcard.

By the way, the soundcard is IMHO (and everyone else who knows of it) the best in the business. It has an external display that's wonderful, and it's perfect for recording.

I also recommend a Behringer Mixerboard (because they're relatively cheap, and very nice for the cash). One of the Euroracks.

I think the setup works wonderfully for home recording, and I'm used to running sound for bands/church (over 300,000-500,000 dollars worth of equipment) and the like.

for a cheaper alternative, you can buy a cheaper soundcard (i'd stick with soundblaster, something relatively new and fairly nice), and record via Line-in from the Shark or POD. There's many many many options out there.

Any questions, message me

Re: recording with amp modelers (line6 etc)

are you crazy? i'm not a millionaire. the audigy's go for 500$ around here USED! and the shure mics i've seen around here go for $100+.. the pod xt alone would empty my wallet and not to mention i dont have anywhere to put the mixboard. no, i'm sticking with the guitar port, period. the sound blasters of today are very capable, there is no diference anymore between the diferent products/makers. but the high end ones are frickin expencive. so, as much as i apretiate your reply and the tips, i cannot afford such a rig cos i wont be using it for business. just for fun and to record my ideas and have lots of digital amps and effects. i got a ****ty amp, i cannot get the gain lower cos if i do it sounds ****ty and if it's over 2/10 it sounds the same as 10/10, so i'd need a good amp also, a better guitar cos the worksmanship of this one is not that good..
also, all the equipment you posted would together cost me more than $1k .. more likely 1.5, so please step a couple of hundred steps down then reply again.

no way! They're about 170, and on ebay you can get them for that much brand new, or sometimes less.

Re: recording with amp modelers (line6 etc)

yes way! i really couldnt care less for how much they go for on ebay as i cant make an ebay account, much less a pay pal account to buy stuff off of the net. you shouldnt be judging everything by your standards/your countries standards. the prices will differ across the globe.. and i just happen to live in a country where you cant get **** without being ripped off by someone
