I haven't jammed with anyone in about 15 years and I'm taking a week off to use up some leave so I thought why not go jam with some people and have a little fun.
So I rented this today :

I've been playing guitar for the past little while just through small amps and headphones so I got used to low volume.
It was a ton of fun plugging back into a beast of an amp and tearing out some grooves.

But the thing is a bloody monster and when I went to my buddies place he said "We'll set up in the basement"
Carrying that thing down the stairs I grumbled "Yeah, didn't miss doing this"

Lot of fun, and playing again through an amp that rumbles low enough to disorient every sperm in your sack was a blast.
We didn't pick any songs, and other than a quick couple lines of Maiden's 'The Trooper' we just free formed.
My buddy has a dj setup in his basement and kept throwing on all kinds of records that he has that are just grooves and beats that dj's use for spinning in clubs.

Never played like that before, usually with a drummer or a drum machine.

Going out again on Monday afternoon to jam with another buddy.

Sounds like fun! Enjoy! Almost spit my drink on the monitor when I read about you disorienting your guppies..

cooooool!

I need to get a bass amp sometime. Although even my direct recording bass tones sound pretty good.

Dry direct is always best for getting a good signal when recording bass to me, but it's always a lot of fun to hear that rumble and growl you can get from the speaker.

Re: Rented a loud toy for a week.

You crazy darn kids with your electromomatic guitars and your crazy beat music. Why does it have to be so loud ? And i can never understand the words. (well, it's not really singing, is it ? More like shouting and screaming). And i'd never call that dancing. You'll all go deaf, just you mark my words.

But i give this whole electromatronic guitar 'music' thing five years, then it'll all be forgotten in favour of bluetooth skateboards or wi-fi yo-yos, or whatever other crazy fad you teenagers come up with next. Why can't you just play some nice polka music like everybody else ? Get a nice suit and an accordian and play proper music. We always need more good waltzes and polka tunes at the senior citizens dances.
