Check Stew Mac. Dan Erlewine does a series of articles that get e-mailed every week. Last week was a headstock chip repair on a LP. That might help. Better yet, PM me your e-mail adress and I'll forward the article to you.

I received my Tele body last night. I went to attach the neck, but in the process of squeezing it into the pocket (a very tight fit) some of the lacquer cracked and bubbled up on the lower cut-away. The neck and body are really tight (I can lift them off the ground with no bolts in), but I'd like to touch this area up at some point.

If it's fresh nitro you're in good shape. You can add nitro or cellusolve and reflow the finish in the area, then wetsand and buff. If you want to just shoot nitro to re-melt the finish use rattle-can, because it has a really high solvent ratio.

The guy told me the body was sprayed about two years ago.

Can nitro be "painted" (brushed) on to re-melt it? This is a very small area around the lower cut-away. It's right where you get those small finish cracks on all Fender guitars. I think I just need to met everything together again.

What about binding? The body is double-bound. If I uses this cellusolve, will it melt the binding too. I did a quick look and it says that cellusolve is used to melt plastic.

Is this cellusolve, or cellosolve we are talking about?

Cellosolve. Apparently the former is some kind of facial cream. But that would have been funny anyways.

I always missspelll that one, because I correlate it to nitro"cellulose" and my brain files it under "Nitrocellulose Solvent"
