Re: Replaceing Pick Up Covers?

It's usually just a matter of desoldering the old ones and soldering the new ones on. If they're potted, you might want/need to redo that to help cut down on microphonics. And no, it's quite common, especially with the guys on here, to change covers specifically for cosmetic reasons.

I've never looked into covers, but I'm sure places like Stew Mac and Warmoth would have them. You can usually find them in the trading room here, too.

Welcome to the forum.

Try the search function. There is a tutorial that includes how to swap covers. Easy to do if you can solder. I'm new to soldering myself, but I've already done it many times.

You don't need to repot the covers, but put a piece of masking tape over the slugs to prevent metal on metal contact. This will keep things quiet.

Aw heck, here's a link...http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/barmagswap.htm

Make sure the covers you buy fit the pickups!
