Replacement P90 Suggestions Please

Howdy all. I have a couple of great Hamer guitars. Ones a Special with a Hot P90 in the neck and a Custom P90 in the bridge. This is my best-sounding guitar and I don't want to change a thing about it. The other guitar is an all-Korina 3 P90 Artist with Hot P90's in the neck and middle and a custom in the bridge. I also love this guitar, but with the similarities in pickups it covers some the same ground that the Special does. I was thinking about swapping out the pickups for something a bit more vintage-y and strat-like. So I was thinking about going with Vintage P90's in the neck and middle and a Hot P90 in the bridge. However, I can't really tell if the Vintage P90's are brighter or darker than the Hot P90's and I want to go with pickups that are brighter/clearer. So, for those in the know, do you think Vintage P90's will fit the bill or should I go for something else?

Mini HB's (as in Firebird, LP deluxe, not Strat) with the adapter ring. Still somewhere between singles and HB's like the P90, but different.

I don't know much about P90's. My first step into that territory is due to my recent purchase of a PhatCat. I liked it quite a lot.

I also bought a set of Lollar p90's but did not have the change to try them out. (Am in the process of finishing the body into which these will be installed.) If you have time, I'll keep you posted. But then again my only reference point would be a phat cat bridge, so I dunno how useful my experience would be for you.

Best,

If you want something stratty, check out the SK alnico pole P90. It actually uses alnico slugs instead of screws and bottom loaded mags. This should give it a skightly glassier, brighter timber than a standard P90. If you want to stay with Duncan, see about getting a slightly underwound P90 (~7.5k) for the neck and perhaps the middle.

Thanks for the info so far guys. I've checked out SK pickups in the past, but since Steve raised the prices to boutique levels a while, they've lost their appeal. I'm looking for something that will do the job for less than Lollar/Harmonic Designs/SK type money. I've never tried out Mini-hums, but maybe I'll try to hunt down a firebird or something to see how I like them.
