Replacement Pick Ups for BC Rich Virgin Platinum

Hey everybody, by somewhat convoluted circumstances, I've recently acquired a used BC Righ Virgin Platinum off my local Craigslist. My other main guitar is a Fender Toronado, the kind with the racing stripe and a '59 in the neck and a Pearly Gates in the bridge. It's my first guitar, and playing it sold on Seymour Duncans, except while it sounded and played great it was HEAVY, and when I go to play somewhere I take the bus or train so portability was an issue and since they've been discontinued and will hopefully one day accrue value, I don't like the idea of risking drops in transit in a soft gig bag. This guitar is much lighter, the action is pretty good, the neck feels nice, and it doesn't sound bad clean or distorted. Still though, I wonder if upgrading the pick ups wouldn't give it more OOMPH tonally, and it's all about tone. So, I'm wondering what successes folks on here have had with putting new pick ups in a BC Rich. I'm open to all suggestions. The music I play runs a gambit (jazz, funk, metal, rock, blues), so versatility is important but besides that I'm really open to suggestions.

More specific specs: Chesswood (?) body, tune-o matic (LP style) bridge, maple neck, rosewood fretboard, overall a more warm then bright sound, I'd say. This page also has info on the model: http://www.zuitar.com/guitar/100338-Virgin_Platinum.html
Thanks!
