Replacing tone control with a Killswitch

inspired by Petrovsk Mizinski's thread on the no tone control. since i don't use the tone knob, i'm thinking of removing the tone control in my RG, and move the volume knob to the tone knob's location. the volume knob gets in the way when i strum. then i'll replace the volume knob with a killswitch. what kind of toggle switch should i look into?

Re: Replacing tone control with a Killswitch

prolly a DPDT On/Off switch if I had to guess. You prolly just get just about any switch at Radiosh*t or somewhere; just make sure it's a two position switch

Re: Replacing tone control with a Killswitch

if you can get a push/pull pot you could set it up as a master volume control in the tone's position, with a kill-switch; so you could still have nothing in the volume pot's position...

i want to cover the existing hole of the volume pot. so i figured i'd put a switch and experiment on the sounds.

Re: Replacing tone control with a Killswitch

How about 2 volumes and have each one push/pull kill the pickup (I'm guessing you're probably not using both p/u's at once). Unless you don't want a volume control to get in the way of your playing.

that's exactly what i don't want. the volume knob is in the way when i play. so i'll move it to the tone knob's position, and replace it with something. since it would be a 1 master volume, 2 HB, 5 way switch and a killswitch, do i retain my original wiring and just replace the tone knob with this http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=kill_switch?

I just said what I would do. And If you're woried about hiting the volume, I would be just as worried with a kill switch. I guess you could make it so the switch goes upward to turn off, just so you don't catch it on the downstrum.

i'll be installing it at an angle where i would not hit it accidentally.

Hehe, they're not far off, really. Here's one example :)

noich.
on reading that post, i actually considered enlarging a hole to fit a big arcade controller button
impractical, but so, so cool an idea

If you're going to do it, make the pickup selector a joystick. That guitar would be amazing! I might do it if I ever get the chance.

All this talking reminded me of this
