Rescued a 68 Bassman.... Vid clip and lots of noise....

Re: Rescued a 68 Bassman.... Vid clip and lots of noise....

Got this yesterday, from a friend who said it just ain't working... After some cleaning, replacing a few tubes, and touching up a couple solder joints, this thing is rockin really nicely. Beautiful grunt and grind from the under-appreciated silverface side of things.... Still absurd bargains!!! Using Big Stan, my Jr build....

VERY, VERY NICE MATE !!!

I am still in love with my '66 Bassman.
I see you do exactly the same as me.
Both vol's on "6" and ride the guitar's vol.

I am currently in conversation with two diff owners regarding more (mint cond) used gear.

1) silver face Bassman + 2X15 cab ($744.00)

2) 1971 Hiwatt DR103 head ($713.00)

Weird figures due to current exchange rate.

The nice thing about the early silverface Fenders is that they were so similar to mid 60's blackfaces that you can either leave them stock or easily mod them. These are a good time to grab some of those silverfaces at good prices.

I'm digging the heck out of my non-master 74 blackfaced Pro Reverb w/Eminence Swamp Thang and Jensen C12N w/beam blocker. The Swamp Thang is a he11 of a speaker.

It's so tempting to buy Fender reissues because they're new and pretty, but a good vintage Fender usually has that something special tonewise.

Yeah it's really pretty ridiculous... how much is a new Twin? Like $1500? Used Silverfaces are like $500 all day and have that authentic age and vibe to 'em you just can't cop anywhere else.

You'd pretty much have to be a numbskull to buy a brand new Fender amp...
