Resistor Value For Partial Tap?

Re: Resistor Value For Partial Tap?

is 2k2 close to a 2000 ohm pot?
am asking because i have 2500ohm pot i may try.
Actuall since this is gonna probably be for an HB103
(which is pretty high resistance) maybe the 1000ohm pot i have may be better?
thanx, p

Re: Resistor Value For Partial Tap?

No, 2k2 is 2.2k and the pot you are referring to is 2000k, completely different ends of the spectrum for this purpose. But it would work well if you want to wire a spin a split but don't want to interfere with how your humbuckers sound right now.

A partial split is essentially a stuck spin a split. When you wire a spin a split the pot essenially acts as a variable resistor.

Or to put it simply, a spin a split is essentially putting a volume control on only one coil of the pickup, so the pot will only affect how much high end is shaved off with the pot at 10.

I am probably only going to split the neck (for now), have not decided on what pup (it may not be a tappable one) to use for the bridge yet
Isn't 2.2k really 2200ohms? p

Re: Resistor Value For Partial Tap?

That it is! I misread your post as 2000k instead of 2000ohm.

So maybe i try the 2000ohm one until i can get a 25k or somthing to try.
Again I will prolly run a DPDT (center off) before the dial a tap pot. so i can use top lug to go to pot then ground, center for full humbucker (open tap) or select full tap (maybe with a resistor) as well.
I now found a 50k linear i can try too.
So it's NOW between the 2500ohm (TYPE J WHATEVER THIS MEANS?) and 50kohm LINEAR (i just found) to decIde on for now!
thanx christopher!
