It's back!

As you can see, the body is back from being clear coated and polished, and it looks amaaaaazing!

I'll get back to work on this as soon as the weather improves. Here's what I still need to do:

- Clean, fine sand, and oil the neck
- Shield the electronics cavity
- Clean and install the hardware
- Clean and re-glue the headstock logo
- Install the electronics
- Final assembly and set-up

grainy pic, but still looks good

it'll look better under nicer lighting!

Re: Restoring my Warmoth LP

Restoration picture threads are my favorite. I see where it's headed. I can't wait to see it all buckled up.

Re: Restoring my Warmoth LP

Nice job. I love threads like these. My fingers are itching to do another refinish..

Re: Restoring my Warmoth LP

After sanding and cleaning the neck, I rubbed in two coats of tung oil.

One odd problem: there are some discoloured areas near the heel. I suspect there is still some of the old finish deep in the pores of the wood. I'm not all that concerned about it at the moment.

I'm going to do one more oil coat then I will buff with steel wool.

Re: Restoring my Warmoth LP

Looking great! *must deny GAS* That is a gorgeous flame maple in that color! The neck looks real good too!
I've used tung oil on Walnut before, it really made the walnut burl look amazing! I've always wondered how hard it would be to finish a neck using it

I replaced the boring half moon Grover tuner knobs with tulips for a classier look. Here they are back on the neck with the emblem

I'm picking away at it whenever I find time. I have a busy couple of weeks coming up, but I should be able to finish this up by the end of the month. If it looks half as good as the neck and body by themselves, it's gonna be a stunner.
