Retrospec'd Antiquity P-90

Hello all.
I have two questions

1, I have a 2017 Casino. I love P90’s but Don’t care for the pickups in this thing. Can’t remember the brand but it’s some dudes name.

been looking at SD pups for it.
I love classic rock, older country, blues.
anyone have some real world experience with a Casino and SD pups? Suggestions?

2, I’ve been looking at the Antiquity’s and now the Retrospec'd Antiquity P-90

does anyone have experience with these? If so, does this aging stuff really change the character or is that just another sales angle?

thx in advance.

Jeff

welcome to the forum!

i havent tried the retrospecd p90, but i have tried the normal antiquity p90 which i think is great. the aged a2 magnets have a certain sound. ive done some swapping with the p90s and humbuckers. the aged a2 has a slightly softer treble response, a touch less output, and a little sweeter midrange than a fully charged a2. its not a ton of difference, but i do notice 5% difference. as far as the other aging, i think its just cosmetic

No experience with the Antiquity, but their "Vintage" P90's are amazing. While you're there I highly recommend adding one of their Custom Shop A5 Staples or TV Jones T-Armond in the neck if they offer a Dog Ear mounting option. You will likely get even better and more dynamic neck tones with plenty of beef and body, lots of chime and clarity, and less propensity to mud out.

i do love the staple pups, especially in the neck, but they are a quite different beast. for me, i might stick with the p90 in both positions.

Thanks for the input, really appreciate it. I just purchased [h=3]NOISELESS P90 PICKUPS[/h] [h=1]Vintage P90 Silencer™[/h]
$278.00

I have previously purchased P-Rails for my SG, Phat Cats for my one of my Les Pauls, and before that a Jazz pickup. Honestly, I'm beginning to think SD doesn't make and duds.

I have a 2020 LP Custom and have been seriously thinking about swapping the pups to staple pups. Heard some online and thought they were pretty bitchin'. I feel this would up the value of the guitar too, should I ever decide to sell it. Not that I think I ever would, but you know...

while pup upgrades are great, i do them on almost every guitar i have, it doesnt tend to increase resale value much overall. though if you find the right buyer they might be willing to pay a bit more

If you do swap out the pickups, keep the stock ones. You'll want to put the stock ones back in and sell it that way- the SDs are too good to sell, anyway.
