Reverb inside an amp, pt. 2.

I spent some time today with the HOF mini and the holy grail. While I dig both of them, I think the holy grail is just much better for subtle verb. The reason I originally asked about the mini was because of the size and "material" of the holy grail. It's one of the old big box usa metal ones. It likes to stick to the magnet in the amp. I CAN get it in the bottom corner just fine but if I pick it up an inch or so it will stick to the mag. I can velcro it down but this is a digital pedal, would the magnet pull damage the memory (digital?) over time or is it just unsafe? Sorry but it's a new game now that its not a mini pedal.

No, magnetics don't bother transistors generally. Velcro it down and be done with it.

Or...buy a cheap behringer pedal. Plastic don't magnetise as easy.

Speakers drawing flying metal pts can royally eff up said speakers (and surrounding tubes, etc, if applicable), causing potential economic loss or even a safety hazard (like breaking a tube & shorting something)....do secure & secure well

Honestly, the Behringer Reverb Machine is a great pedal, so if you get the chance to pick one up, do it. Otherwise, the Holy Grail will be a fine reverb. (I own both)

Why not just save a few bucks and go with a Fender Reverb tanks. You won't be sorry. I use a Verbzilla in and amp that has no Reverb and I have it set to where you can barely notice it until I kick in an overdrive then the verb gets a bit more pronounced. BUT if it were up to me I would use a Fender Reverb tank they are just flat out awesome! Put it on top of the head rather then in it.

I used to kick my reverb tank to simulate the thunder in Riders On The Storm. Doesn't work so well with a digital pedal, tho.

I've used a Holy Grail in the FX loop of amps ever since that pedal came out. It's very subtle and sounds pretty close to an onboard spring reverb.

Sometimes I can't believe people pay huge money for reverb pedals, when the tried and true EH Holy Grail does the job just fine.

I'm always surprised at how many kinds of reverbs people think they need with the multi-type units.

Guitar: Spring, Hall, maybe room
Vocals: Plate

and that's about it. And i could live my entire guitar life just fine with Spring only

Nothing like an old Lexicon unit in a parallel loop. Not a flexible as a Strymon Blue Sky, but its a heck of a sound.

Note that might not fit into your budget - its just FYI.

I'm just a fan of a plate/room type reverb (as well as the old spring).

I actually have one of those that I recently bought from a co-worker. I don't use it because it is noisy (lot of 60Hz hum) but I've been meaning to crack it open for service. It is a cool unit, though.
