Hi,
I stayed up until bout 7 or 8 in the morning trying to figure what is wrong. Ok, the guitar is a Kramer Pacer Classic and I am in the process of putting the original Gibson/Kramer pickups back in. I had Peavey Wolfgang pickups in there quite a while but those have been put in a Peavey Wolfgang now. So, the complement is one regular volume knob for the bridge pickup & one push/pull as neck volume and coil split for both pickups. I get everything wired up, and it's either no sound, very faint, weak sound, or intermittently the full on pickup. This is in regard to the neck pickup, the bridge pickup works fine.
The coil split works perfectly for both pickups. Again, sorry, no pictures. On the neck push/pull I have the green/whites soldered to the two middle tabs (we've already established those work). The pickup's hot wire is soldered to the leftmost lug, then a wire is soldered from center lug to 3 way switch outside lug. Ground from rightmost tab to case, then to star ground, also bottom right tab of push/pull portion. I took it upon myself to do a "star ground," since there were/are so many ground wires. After first time, no sound, took some alligator clips and did some testing. So then I jumpered both bottom tabs to ground, and bottom left ground to pickup hot lug. I had it working briefly, full on, but it all went to hell again soon. One thing I haven't tried is connecting neck pickup straight to the jack. I don't know what the problem is and have been losing my mind.
Thanks dudes
