this is more directly shot at dangly banger cause he won't clean up his p.m's
but if others want to chime in as well that's fine.

i was wondering how to get that chili peppers tone i'm running it through the rig below. i'm just wondering if you know some generic settings that i can use. your jag clip sounded pretty good. i'm looking for bssm and californication album tone.

thanks,

Re: rhcp tone settings?

for a clean tone youd probably want a neck single coil into the clean channel, turn the mids down a bit, enough bass for a solid punchy bass, and treble up a bit to get some glass and shimmer. His clean tone isnt anything special in terms of gear, it basically sounds like a vintage strat clean tone to me, its not too difficult to dial in

Depends on your gear. For most of the newer songs I use a neck single coil, on the dirty channel with just a bit of gain. EQ I normaly drop the mids down to 4, bass on 5, highs on 7
Thats for songs like Can't stop, etc. But it depends on your amp.

whoa, sorry took me a while to spot this.

Yep, the amp tone is absolutely generic on the clips I think you're talking about... All on 7s, gain on 5.5 :D

To get a more Californication/Under the Bridge type tone, just do the same :) But use the bridge pickup when necessary. It's a really generic, almost primordial, archetypical Stratocaster surf tone.

I will say this, it sounds more "accurate" with a marshall clean channel, but no one will notice. That just adds the extra spice in a lot of RHCP tunes.

On mother's milk etc. type tones, just get something with humbuckers and a super high gain amp :D Preferably an Ibanez wank stick ;)
