Richie Sambora Strat at GC!

So me and 2 of my friends went to Guitar Center today and in their used section they have a cool Richie Sambora strat. The serial # strated with an M so im guessing it was made in Mexico. It had to have been an older model early to mid 90's. White body black pickgaurd and pups and rosewood fret board, crappy floyd 2.

They want $299 for it

Is that a good deal? I have a JB I'd throw in it and eventually put a good floyd in it.

I've never seen a nother one.

Re: Richie Sambora Strat at GC!

Is there any real difference between this one and any Floyd-Fat Strat, which are like $450 new? Seems like as long as its in good shape, it'd be a good buy.

Re: Richie Sambora Strat at GC!

sounds like a pretty good deal to me...one went through ebay with a $425 buy it now...nobody bit on it, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a decent guitar for the money..just that nobody really looks to strats for floyd roses..and since yours is considerably cheaper than $425, I'd say you're doing great with that one..try to talk them into throwing in a cable, or a tuner, or a case or something, and you've DEFINITELY got a great deal

Go for strings instead of a chord. :D

yeah good idea. It's also missing the trem bar so maybe i could get them to throw in a new one.

Anyway i've been grounded from buying anymore guitars for a while now so i'm trying to convinvce my parents why I should get this one. I got the okay from mom and dad sounds interested, so who knows? I might own this guitar pretty soon :)

Re: Richie Sambora Strat at GC!

The Richie model is supposed to have a floyd, dimarzion paf or paf pro in the bridge and I think dim singles in it. sold for 500-600 us new. If its in good shape, Id be all over it

Grab it. It sounds like a good deal to me. MIM strats are excellent IMO.

The MIM model should have a Dimarzio PAF in the bridge and stock generic sc Fender pups in the neck & middle.

The MIA model has a PAF Pro and Fender Texas Specials, as well as an active mid boost and superior hardware.

That said, I'm sure the MIM is a good player. Depending on its age I'd be a little hesitant to spend $299 on it. The serial code will tell you the exact year. If it starts with M, it is a MIM guitar. The second letter will tell you the decade it was produced, and the first number identifies the year in that decade. E covers the late 80s, N is the 90s, and Z is 2000. Therefore, a serial number that begins with MN6 would mean the guitar was made in Mexico in 1996.

Re: Richie Sambora Strat at GC!

the mexico version of the Richie Sambora Strat is a very good guitar for the price, the neck and middle pick-up is NOT dimarzio but Fender. The bridge is a PAFPro
