I can't believe Dingusbox isn't running away with it!
That riff is my favorite of all the entries, and as I mentioned before, it's actually a riff. A perfect and awesome riff.

^ As I said to Moose, I think your definition of riff is too strict.
I like both these entries a lot. They are completely different in style and feel, but equal in quality.

+1 ... of all the things that have been discussed in the 8 battle threads and the coupla sound room threads about this whole thing, i can honestly say that i did not expect riff fundamentalism to be an issue ... i guess every endeavour under the sun has self apointed defenders of purity, huh? .. i mean, its expected that folks would have opinions, even strongly held ones, but to go so far as to proclaim who is pure and true to the church of the riff and who are apostates really goes against the spirit of the thing ... kinda a bummer

I agree with you, except the part about being surprised by riff fundamentalism. If I know anything about SD forum members, it's that we love to nit-pick. What more would you expect from people who appreciate subtle differences between pickups?
You have to have standards though. This contest wouldn't be nearly as interesting if it were a guitar wank free-for-all. I do think it's a good thing that the organizers left it pretty open in terms of what constitutes a riff and what doesn't.
By my (apparently sloppy) standards, almost every entry so far counts as a riff.

I went with Dingusbox because its closer to my style and taste. I can see how BP's riff can appeal to many others though...
