manwhich's entry is very nice ... to me, it goes on a bit too long to be a riff and what is there doesnt have enough rhythmic diversity to capture my attention ... it is more of a progression or thematic backdrop ... i bet a very cool tune would come out of this - maybe something smashing pumpkins-ish .. but it doesnt capture the essence of a riff for me

spaghetti butt has nice elements as well ... but it isnt memorable/hummable/singable to me ... if i have to think that hard to even be sure what the time signature is, it isnt a happenin riff ... its real good playing and i bet it could be developed into a very heavy rockin composition .. maybe video game soundtrack-ish ... but not enough of a solid riff to me

manwich's came off as a bit boring to me, honestly. catchy, short, good melody, but there's not enough energy.

spaghettibutt's on the otherhand i definitely get. i don't hear it as being too dissonant. excellent note selection, played with conviction.

I would kind of liked to hear this repeat, but you definitely capture the feel of it in the first listen. Perhaps a little minimal to my ears but solidly-played nonetheless. Actually, it would fit in a SONG probably a lot better than it fits on an island like this, so I'll approach it that way.

Spaghettibutt
Aside from a completely hysterical name, this riff is sort of leaving me a little cold. I'd having a hard time getting it. Just when I think it's repeated, something else gets thrown in, such to the point that I'm having trouble even finding a root to it. While I do *not* use tone as a criteria, I think the submitter here would probably be better served by just single-tracking, as the tone sounds like it would work on its own, but the overdub is causing it to phase pretty hard. Having said all of that, I'm not 100% negative on this riff - it's definitely creative and unique, and well-played.

What we have here (IMHO) is a battle of too little vs. too much. I'm actually not sure how to vote.

i love that both of these food-themed names ended up against eachother
