Riff-Off 2.5: Stockholm Syndrome vs. Chumble Spuzz — SHOWDOWN!!!

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE POST BEFORE VOTING!​

You are voting for your favorite riff in the SPECIAL CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND SHOWDOWN of the January 2010 Riff-Off. The Championship Round resulted in a tie, so this is a special 24-hour showdown to determine this month's champion. More information about the Riff-Off can be found here. To view the bracket for this month's Riff-Off, go here.

Because not all contestants have access to the same quality of recording equipment, your voting decision should be based first on the actual composition, second on the player's execution of the riff. Try to look past recording quality. Some questions you may want to ask yourself while considering which way to vote: What is the emotional impact of the riff? How original is the riff? Does the riff inspire me? Would I want to hear a whole song built off this riff?

Note that each contestant has chosen a battle name for the Riff-Off; their identities have been hidden from all other contestants and the voting public, and will be revealed at the end of the Riff-Off, when a champion is crowned.

Lastly, while comments are strongly encouraged, please realize that each contestant put personal time and creative energy into his or her submission. If you have any critique to provide in this thread, give the contestants the courtesy of making it constructive. This competition is built on the premises of fun and musical growth.

Swedish groove gets my vote. Chumbles riff is nice, but not as emotional!

I like 'em both. I thought I'd go with stock after hearing it, but then chumble took what I thought was a typical riff then added some bacon on top and toasted it.

I don't know who you guys are but you should totally be jamming together. Your skill levels and even ideas are very complimentary. Once again you both have provided great offerings. And having been recently tasked with providing my own offerings to the great riff beast, I now appreciate the control and complexities involved with both the concepting and the recording. Don't even get me started on the recording.

Anyhoo, I'll have to give each of these another listen or seven. Different moods and ideas are at play here. I must now ruminate for a time...

i like the fact that both guys brought better riffs to the showdown than they did in the finals - very impressive gaming up

i reversed my vote too

if i could write and perform a riff as cool as either of these, i'd be proud to lose to either of you two

I found myself voting the same way I did in the final, for the same reasons. Both great entries, I could see this one ending up in a draw too, hehe (wonder what would happen then ??)

I'm also curious as to whether any of the voters have found the voting process to make themselves think about how they percieve what they hear, how it affects them, and in what way. And from that, what they feel they are looking for when listening to music. Also perhaps how open-minded or otherwise we may be as a listener when we are exposed to something a little outside of what we usually hear. Listening and voting has been an interesting process for me, and despite having been around for ever, i feel like i've learnt from these tournaments as well as having fun.

Congratulations to both competitors for the strong entries once again, i feel the result will simply be decided by people's tastes in music, as both riffs seem to be equally strong in ther respective genres. There will be absolutely no shame for whoever takes second place here, and i think the result will be very very close.

Well gotta admit, I listened to Stockholm, and thought, he just won it. I dont see chumble putting up anything to compete with that.
Then I listened to Chumble, now I cant vote. Gonna have to give them a BUNCH more listens.

I cant vote!
I like them both too much, and for different reasons.
Stockholm, I hear going into a very raw emotional driven song, which I love.
Chumble, just that straight up rock song that I love.

Alright, I voted. It HURT me to do it, but I had to for the competition.

These are both better than the first time.

I had to go with Chumble on this one. Both riffs were great, his just felt like a killer opening to a Mr. Big album or something.

This has been the hardest one for me to choose by far. Congrats to both guys for the fantastic standard in this showdown. No disgrace for either to be a runner-up in this round...

Both riffers definitely stepped it up from the last round! I couldn't vote for one or the other based on originality or quality of execution. One just slightly appealed more to my personal taste.
