Hooboy! Looks like we've got ourselves a good ol' fashioned Riff-Off Smackdown!

Each contestant (Stockholm & Chumble) has 60 hours to record and submit a riff to me (i.e., they have until 9:00 PM EST this Friday). Smackdown voting will last 24 short hours, and with any luck, we'll have a champion!

As I said (and Tor) - both have done some amazing riffage throughout.

They are like boxers in round 9 - they have nothing left. These were tough to choose because they were both only OK.

I think both riffs have awesome core ideas - they just need some refinement. I just couldn't fall in love with either immediately.

Still - Bravo gentlemen! An overall awesome display of riffage throughout!!!! Kudos whoever wins.

wouldve been interesting if we couldve run a parallel voting system with the points scale ... if there were an odd number of point value levels (say, 0 to 5), then the likelihood of a tie would be much much reduced ... with an even number of value levels, say, 0-4, the likelihood of a tie doesnt diminish nearly as far

i agree with Ace's overview/assessment too

nice job guys - no shame in coming in second when its this tight

My first peek into the riff-off... great stuff!

Stockholm... really cool, i can imagine a big loud shuffle type drum beat behind it and there being a cool rolling groove going on with it.

Chumble Spuzz... cool use of delay, reminds me of some buckethead - nice . Had a nice ethereal vibe to it.

Tough for me, but Stockholm gets my vote because i still have it in my head

I preferred Stockholm's riff though.

I think you'd have to be into stoner rock and doom-type music to really get it. Luckily I fit that bill.

I can hear some loud, boxy drums whomping along with that riff. Nice.

Indeed! And I erroneously put "36 hours" instead of "60 hours." The intended deadline is still 9:00 PM EST this Friday, but I was hasty with my calculation and totally skipped a day. (Maybe it's because I have a much-needed day off today. Work's been wikkid bizzie in a very tedious way as of late.)

So to clarify, deadline this Friday at 9:00 PM, poll runs from shortly thereafter (give or take an hour) to the following Saturday, 24 hours later. (All times are Eastern Standard.)
