Rig Case idea

I'm sick of carting around multiple boxes and cases and bags for all my gear.
I'm thinking of building a rig case out of 3/4" plywood, aluminium and heavy-duty foam.

Black inidcates aluminium or ply. Grey indicates foam.

Gimmie a break I did it in one minute in MSpaint.

What do you guys think of the idea?

- If one day I decide to go rack, I can just take out the head and have room for a 6sp rack if I want.

the second most important factor in having a really good band is having the best roadies...looks like you need to get some!

- I just had a talk with my dad about it.

Weight isnt the issue. And yes Castors is a must.

He said fitting it in the car would be hardest. So im going to do 2 different boxes.
One for the cabinet, one for everything else.
However they can clip together when on stage etc.

my only concern is heat inside the rackspace/head area....that's gonna heat up really quick and if it's all inside a box, the heat's not gonna really have anywhere to go and that's gonna spell a lot of trouble after prolonged use and it's not gonna be good...that's my only gripe if ya got the back for it, go for it

Yeah, do 2 seperate cases for amp/effects/leads, and one for the cabinet. Hell, don't even do one for the cabinet. One local band that tours up and down the state frequently have a really cool setup for each guitarist, a Marshall 1960a cabinet and a rack full of their crap right next to it.

I want to do one for the cabinet, because its brand new and completely unscathed.
One of my big things I care about is resale value, Because realisticly I will one day sell all of this stuff.

For both cases I will have lift off lids front and back.
So the front and the back of the head and rack will be open during use.

As far as racks go, I don't think that will be too heavy ... I think my SKB rack including my Marshall EL 34 100/100 weighs about the same, and that's not including the 4x12 cabs.

Personally, I'd cover the head and cab in padded Tuki covers, then have a pedalboard case, a backpack with the transformer and cords....then 2 guitars. At least that's how my setup is. Unfortunately, I first bought roadcases, then soon realized the Tuki padded cover is the way to go.......shed 1/3 the weight.

Can you believe I've yet to get any covers for my heads?!
I've drug them all over the country, not to mention on the NYC subway and taxi cabs, and haven't had a problem ... yet. It's way high on my list, tho. I'll look into the Tuki covers you mentioned!!

tuki covers...weren't those ATA flite cases the standard? They sell them through ebay for 90 bucks each.
