Risson Amplifiers

Re: Risson Amplifiers

I guess all those photos are for real, but I've never heard of the brand before. Some of the guys here know a lot more than me about vintage amps though.

Re: Risson Amplifiers

Risson was slightly popular in southern California for awhile, mostly in the early 80's. When I was 15, I found a Risson head at a pawnshop for $280, and it was my first good tube amp. I just thought it was a cheapo, but when I brought it home, I loved it. It sounded better than my friend's Marshalls and Carvins.
Mine had 2 6550's, and it had better gain than JCM800's.

If they were still the bargain they used to be, I'd be scooping them up for cheap. Nowadays they usually fetch a much higher price than they ever did in the 80's.
