Rivera Suprema 55 - any comments?

I've been looking for a mid wattage 1x12 combo amp around $600 and found a guy who has a Rivera Suprema 55 he's willing to sell me for this amount. I've played through a Chubster and liked it, played through an R100 and hated it - the info about this amp Harmony Central was quite useless as usual so I'm wondering if anyone on the board here has had any experience with this amp? TX!!!

This is the closed back combo correct?

The reg R series combos frankly IMO, suck. They suck all the tone outta the amps, IMO. They are not big enough and too constrictive. The Chubster and Suprema were designed to circumvent that problem. My experience with the Chubster was excellent, much better than any R series combo (though it's the same "guts")

I found some soundclips (independant) of the Suprema one time, and it sounded very very nice. Might google it.

Go try it
I am curious as well
I had a Rivera phase
Great amps! but I just prefer real Marshalls, but for that price??? wow, No fender or Marshall can give you both clean and grit with footswitching. Is he throwing in the FS7?

btw is it the one I saw on Craig's?

Re: Rivera Suprema 55 - any comments?

This is a closed back combo, the FS7 is included - the amp is really clean, only a year old, I found it in the recycler.

It's got EL34's but the guy says it does and great fender clean sound, that's something I want to hear. I'll go check it out tomorrow.

I've been playing mine for a couple years now and still love it.It can do so much with just the turn of a few knobs .The cleans can be big and beautiful or pull the bright switch and it can be thin and bright. The OD channel is my favorite though, old school AC/DC.Its been said before , but I've never found an amp that an do the Marshall/Fender thing so well. The price is right too, I paid much more than that for an amp older than that. You should definitely try it :)

Thanks for your info! The more I look into this amp the better it sounds, does it take pedals well?? I have a couple of overdrive pedals that I really like (OCD and BB Preamp) and would like to continue using if possible.

Re: Rivera Suprema 55 - any comments?

It does take pedals well too. I use an OD to boost the OD channel for more sustain and a TS9 with the clean channel just for more options. I think you'll find you dont need them much because the amp sounds that nice on its own . I probably use an extra OD 20% of the time.

Re: Rivera Suprema 55 - any comments?

I'm curious to hear the review once the amp has been played. I simply love the two Rivera's I own.
