RMC4 Picture Wah Demo

Re: RMC4 Picture Wah Demo

As your a bit of a "wah pedal proponent" i,d be interested to hear your opinion of my use of it in "GoldenVultureNoise". Pt1a gets a bit messy towards the end ,if you get that far.

Re: RMC4 Picture Wah Demo

Very nice! Personally, I liked RMC1 a little better. I found it more subtle but nevertheless a bit naughty (I can say that in Norwegian but I'm not sure if it is a descriptive English term). But both sounds are really nice.

Re: RMC4 Picture Wah Demo

Very cool, Geoff! Is this the trusty Strat into your Super Champ, with only the RMC4 in between? Is everything the same between the RMC1 and RMC4 clips (with the exception of the Teese model, of course)?

Each of these wah tones has its place. In general, I prefer the rawness of the RMC4, but they're both quite nice.

Yeah, it's the same setup as the RMC1 clip, nothing but the RMC4 in line. I recorded it onto another track on the same arrangement page in Logic 8 so it would get the same plate reverb and limiter settings that I had set up for the first clip. This one's a little more driven, but I think that suits the Picture Wah better. I totally agree that they both have their place. The RMC4 is much closer to the Italian wah sounds that lefty guy with the fro used to get, but the RMC1 has more sexual chocolate. I tried using them both at the same time, but I kept falling down.

Re: RMC4 Picture Wah Demo

I am just amazed how smooth the sweep is on both models. These are moving way up on the GAS priority list.

Which would you say is least bright on the top end, and which is the least choked on the bottom? I guess I prefer retained high fidelity over wide sweep range.

The RMC1 is definitely less bright on the top end. Keep in mind that it is specifically designed for single coils. I don't hear either of them being choked at any part of the spectrum, that's part of their beauty, along with the smoothness of sweep. They don't have the lumpy inconsistencies that many other wahs have in their sweep that end up translating as a form of ugliness in the transition through their range. There is a trim pot inside the Picture Wah to set the limit for the top end, but I haven't messed with it yet. I want to do a gig with it first and hear what Geoffrey had in mind under battle conditions. They are both extraordinarily musical wahs, as are all of the RMC's I've heard.

Re: RMC4 Picture Wah Demo

that was quite quacky :)

Yes indeed. I sent Geoffrey an e-mail saying that if there was a way to run a guitar signal through a duck whilst firmly squeezing it, it would probably sound a lot like his Picture Wah.

Re: RMC4 Picture Wah Demo

Cool comparison. The differences are subtle, but they're there. I like both. The 4 is definitely the Hendrix sound, while the 1 has that 70's funk voicing. It's like listening to 2 twin brothers talking...similar but not the same.

If there's one thing I like about my Fulltone Clyde Deluxe, it's the 3 sweeps I can choose from. Shaft for funky riffs, Jimi for traditional Vox tones, and Whacked for riffing on lower notes, kinda like Alice in Chains or something.

I wish I could try all the Teese's side by side. Every one of them sounds great, but these comparisons are where you really hear the differences.

Ha ha ha ha, you want to watch the RSPCA or similar doesn't hear your demo or read this thread.... animal cruelty is not taken lightly!!! I actually prefer the Pictutre Wah for that clip, just a bit clearer and funky... but then i guess that's what it's supposed to do! Great stuff.

Re: RMC4 Picture Wah Demo

Very nice my man! Now you know what I've been ranting about for weeks now...best vintage style om the market period IMO...nothing can touch the teese picture wah...not a Budda, not a BYOC, not a single Dunlop, not even a Fulltone! Great wah!

When I bought my Picture wah I actually did plug up 5 out of (at the time) 6 Teese wahs...I have a 2 and a 3 as well as a Picture, Wizard and a WoF...as a base line so to speak I plugged up a stock Vox 847 reissue and went to town...all killer wahs but all very different!

Teese makes the best wahs on the market...all of them are just killer! If you want a wah pedal be sure that RMC makes the flavor you're looking for!
