Rock and metal guys what strings are you using?

Re: Rock and metal guys what strings are you using?

Not a fan of Ernie Balls. They have always broken on me.

Also not a fan of 9's haha sorry

Anyone else?

A few guys like Dunlop strings. I can also recommend GHS.

I mostly use whatever I feel like using. D'Addario is it for now.

If you want something completely left-field there is Optima gold strings.

Re: Rock and metal guys what strings are you using?

I use GHS boomers low, but my band tunes down to C. I did, however, use GHS before I started playing downtuned. 11's on my 24.75 and 10's on my 25.5 scale guitar. They last and they sound good. I absolutely can't stand D'addarios or Ernie Balls.

Re: Rock and metal guys what strings are you using?

I've tried many kinds, but it doesn't seem to matter a whole lot what I use. I notice differences in construction, features, and materials more than I notice consistent differences across similar strings of different brands.

Not a fan of Ernie Balls. They have always broken on me.

I've been using them for metal for 17 years and have only broke like 4, and 2 were because they were rusted all to hell.

Ernie Ball 10-46 for me.

I use Infield Superalloy 9s on the shredders and GHS Boomers 10 on the Teles and Paul.

Re: Rock and metal guys what strings are you using?

Having used d'addarios, DR's, EB's, boomers, and elixirs.... Elixirs last 20 times longer(literally) than the rest of them. They also have more tension, so i can go smaller without going sharp while fretting or over-bending.

My main guitar has a 6-month old set of nanowebs, and they are STILL bright and lively. As long as you don't let them tarnish, theyll last a very long time......well worth the money.

D'ad's would last me about a week or less eith normal play time. EB's were usually already dead and lifeless right out of the package. I wouldnt use them for free at this point.

I normally use their hybrid sets, 9-46 on 25.5 scales and 10-52 on the les paul.

Re: Rock and metal guys what strings are you using?

I'm pretty solidly D'addario these days, but I'm all over the place gauge-wise

9-46
10-46
10-52
11-49
11-52
13-62
