???? rock maple and quartersawn maple

i was looking at guitars yesterday and i saw two different wood types for a neck. whats the difference between rock maple and quartersawn maple?

you are mixing separate items ... rock maple is a variety in the species of maple trees (kinda like beagle and terrier are varieties in the species dog) ... other varieties of maple can be found by googling ...

quartersawn is a production method that can be applied to a log of any variety/species when turning it into a guitar neck ... there are other types of production methods for doing this too ... each method has its own cost/performance characteristics

Out of interest how many guitar necks are quater sawn? Is it a thing mostly used in $1000 guitars, or is it much more common than that? If im looking at the back of my guitar neck which way would the grain be if it was quatersawn?

Just wondering because when i was looking at warmoth necks this was an option, and it seemed like it could be worth the extra cost.

Having a neck quartersawn definitely increases the price of manufacture.

Both my Wayne and Gajic necks are quartersawn, and are they sweet!!!
