Anyone tried this thing? GW gave it a good review in their latest issue and a Gold Award (but then again they gave "The Weapon" a platinum award  ) and said it had a complex, rich, British tone.

It looks promising. Anyone try one yet?

Re: Rocktron Silver Dragon

Guess not... well as soon as i find one I'll post a detailed review :D :smoker: :alcoholic

Re: Rocktron Silver Dragon

How come you hate Rocktron stuff?

I didn't like their HUSH pedal (tone sucker) but their regular effects pedals I've tried are pretty good.

Re: Rocktron Silver Dragon

I think that the Rocktron preamps sound like absolute poo, and are built cheaply.
I would get an Engl any day of the week over a Rocktron product.

Re: Rocktron Silver Dragon

Inneresting - most EQ adjustable preamps require some time to get the best out of them, the Rocktron gear I have tried seems well built and gets killer tones, but you need to get into it as with all reasonably complex programmable setups; I haven't seen the Silver Dragon yet, but it seems promising.

It's not really a preamp... just a tube/ss hybrid distortion pedal. Does ENGL make a pedals as well? That I'd like to see.

Re: Rocktron Silver Dragon

OMG I hope it sounds better than that in person... all thin and fizzy, no harmonic charachter. yuck!

Re: Rocktron Silver Dragon

I don't think it helps that it sounds like it's being played through a SS amp.

But it sounds like a DOD or Boss through a 15w SS amp to me

Man a metal zone sounds like a Boogie compared to this... yuck! I hope to god its the amps fault.

Re: Rocktron Silver Dragon

This was done on my Schecter A-7 7-string with a Duncan JB in the bridge. All bridge pickup. This runs into my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe into the low gain imput 2. The volume as at about 2.5 which is a bit louder than Apt. Friendly volume. Basically you can hear it outside.

I have it plugged into an Avater 2x12 with an SM57 on the VIntage 30.

:drive:

F U MAN! lol I own a metal zone... I actually like what I get out of it!

That is until I get a tube amp :laugh2: Still though don't diss the Mt-2.. it's a good pedal when you're not filthy rich.
