Rocktron Zombie?

played one of these a while ago, can't stop thinking about it.

sounded AWESOME, but might be the noisiest pedal/thing I've ever heard... (used a telecaster into it)

The other rocktron heavy metal or something I tried didn't sound as good and was just as noisy.

It just seemed to get really unique tones...

any opinions?

Re: Rocktron Zombie?

I liked the Zombie clips on the Rocktron website as well as the clips on the MF website (there are no clips now for some reason). It sounded really Rammstein-y.

Re: Rocktron Zombie?

I have a Zombie which I mess around with sometimes. Although the distortion level can't be changed much, it still gets a wide variety of tones. The "3-D psychoacoustic" effect they describe sounds like it would be some kind of gimmick, but it actually does seem to fill the room in that manner when used with a tube amp and a good speaker cab. The "Stare" knob increases asymmetry in the distortion wave shape, and when increased, it brings out more of a fuzz sound. I usually have it set with the bass fairly high and the treble a little lower.

Re: Rocktron Zombie?

All my guitars have humbuckers right now. It's not a totally smooth distortion, but that's part of what's cool about it. The clips at the website are pretty accurate.

Re: Rocktron Zombie?

I've used their Rampage pedal for several years now and can get a good variety of distortion sounds out of it. Very impressive, much more so then any of the Boss boxes.

Re: Rocktron Zombie?

dont know about the zombie, but my Metal Planet is the quietest distortion pedal I have ever heard....I dont use those single coil noise amplifiers though ;P

Re: Rocktron Zombie?

You can tweak the midrange by balancing the bass and treble with the volume knob.
