I've been on the fence about whether or not I need another pedal and I have decided that the more toys the better.
But when it comes down to it I am uncertain what would be the best addition.
My current board consists of
Ibanez Weeping Demon Wah
MXR Dynacomp
Fulltone Fulldrive 2
Big Muff Pi
MXR 10 band Eq
EHX Deluxe Electric Mistress
Little Alligator Volume
Boss DD-20
Amp: AC15
I'm on the fence of whether or not to add another dirt pedal or a modulation effect.
I realize I have several options for dirtying up my tone. All my pedals are widely known so it isn't like anyone needs an explanation of what each of them does.
The Fulldrive is almost always on. Driving the amp to a nice break up and the boost side is dialed in for some hairer push. I don't really use it as a lead boost just a step up in gain.
The Big Muff gives some big nasty distorted tones.
I'm considering a distortion peal to land me betweent those two. Something suitable for rhythm and some fun riffing. I'm just not sure what I need. I've considered a Fulltone GT-500 but I don't really need another Boost. Just the distortion side. So I considered the Plimsoul.
But then again I might be just as happy with something simple like an MXR Classic Distortion and my bank account would be happier too.
Basically I'm not trying to pull High-gain EVH or Mesa tones out of this amp. I'd say I would like a more Marshall voiced distortion but I know that this amp will never sound like that. Which someone on here highly recommended the GT-500 for that application in an older thread I started but as mentioned I don't really need or want another Clean boost option.
On the other side I am considering a chorus pedal. Something for soft and subtle tones. I like my chorus very subdued. A barely there kind of sound for nice shimmering clean tones. Not too crazy about adding it in on distorted tones.
I've started several threads recently debating different options for my board and I am probably as sick of asking questions as you are of answering them.
So if I add one more pedal what would you recommend? Or is there another fun pedal I am missing that you think I would benefit from?
As far as the musical style I play. I play at church a lot. So think Hillsong, Chris Tomlin or Jesus Culture.
I also like a lot of classic rock tones and a some garage rock.
My pedalboard (by this I mean the physical board) is Almost done. My friend and I have been building it in our spare time. We should wrap it up Friday when he comes over for steaks. (Yeah... grilling steaks, building stuff and playing guitar.... Perfect)
