Rose pickups? Anyone use them?

Happened upon these guys today. Seems intriguing...handwound pups, made in the USA, for pretty low cost compared to SD/DMZ etc.

price-wise they go from about $60 a set for strat pickups to about $150.

Humbuckers are about on the same level as SD, maybe a bit cheaper. Seems like even their low cost offerings, the Mariposa set in particular, are getting rave reviews.

Might have to nab a set for my strat :scratchch

Re: Rose pickups? Anyone use them?

well on the back of a whole bunch of favourable reviews, good sound clips and a great deal of helpfulness from one of the owners, I pulled the trigger on a set for my strat.

Got a neck and middle Robusta (sorta a fattened up 50's style) and a Buff Beauty for the bridge (full, midrangey goodness). All handwound. $66 bucks total, before shipping.

huzzah!

I haven't played real proper single coils in aeons!!!!!!! :D

...now to get a S/S/S '62 pickguard and a new wiring harness....

Once you have a chance to put em thru their paces, let us know what you think.

Re: Rose pickups? Anyone use them?

Yes, I had the mariposas in a parts Strat. They were great budget pickups at around $20 per pickup. I have the alnico IV Classic HBs sitting in a box with nothing to put them in at the moment. Nice and warm with a chimey top.

Re: Rose pickups? Anyone use them?

I'm not big on single coils. However one of the best sets I ever played were also VERY reasonably priced. I have a set of Bill Lawrence Keystones in my Japanese Squier Strat. I need one or 2 singles, so perhaps Ill check these out.

Can't compare those things to other makers based on price, alone. They sell direct.

Re: Rose pickups? Anyone use them?

I'm always looking for CHEAP pickups that I hear are good. So far I've only found GFS and Dragonfire.

I'll definitely post a long detailed review when I get them in. Judging from the reviews though, I'm in for a helluva lot of bang for my buck.

Re: Rose pickups? Anyone use them?

yeah I was considering those as well, but I figured I might as well just ask the owner and get his recommendation since he obviously knows his product much better than I do.

Can't wait to get them in.
