I like the maple neck with big black block inlay, because I can see the frets easier......

I have always preferred maple on Strats.
In fact, rosewood is my least preferred board on any guitar. It sounds good and looks good, but I really like maple and ebony.

Same for me, maple and ebony. Ebony guitars tend to have sharper attack IMO, and as a metal played, this is what I seek the most. On the other hand, a single-coil equipped guitar cleans up best with maple IMO.
