Rotary Switch Wiring Question

Greetings everyone, forum newbie here. I'll get right to it.

I'm rewiring a PRS style guitar (2HB) but I wanted a rotary switch instead of toggle, because I like the look of the three knobs. I have push pulls coming as well to split them, so I'd like to wire a 6 position, 2 pole rotary to have Neck, Bridge, and Both as options. I know I'll have to have some duplicates, which is fine. If it's possible, I'd like to have one position totally dead, like a killswitch of sorts.

If anyone could instruct me how to do this, I would be very grateful indeed.

Thanks All,

With respect, this is a bad reason to chose a particular type of switch over another.

If you do decide to employ a rotary selector, there should be no need for push-pull switches. The Rotary takes care of all of that.

I got fed up of using the rotary selector on my PRS Custom. I disliked the clunky feel, some of the coil combinations and the audible clicks through the amplification as the contacts were made and broken. Last year, I modified my PRS with a Freeway 3x3-03 six-way toggle selector. Never looked back. Quick changes, six usable sounds and no duds.

Enough about me.

The trick to wiring up a rotary selector switch from scratch is knowing what you require BEFORE creating the interconnections on and between the individual wafer layers of the switch. No-one can be expected to attempt a schematic diagram until you have clarified exactly which coil combinations you require to have operational in each switch position.
