Rough of a new tune

The mp3 compression did some odd stuff but it's all right I am just dialing some stuff in. Nothing on it other than some verb, no vox at the moment.

My Faded LP Standard (59s) into the VettaII mic'd up with a Studio Projects C1 right into the board.

Very cool, but I can't hear the solo near the end. It's WAAAY down in the mix.
Great stuff though, nice riff!

Re: Rough of a new tune

Thank for checking it out. I have to re-do the MP3, for some reason it totally squashed the end?

Re: Rough of a new tune

Wow Scott- that Vetta sounds VERY good. Very warm.

I like that little quick vibrato you got going on that one chord. I totally dig that stuff.

Are you rolling down the guitar's volume in the "quiet part" in the middle (after the solo) ? or is that a different patch?

The leads are way back in the mix def.

Sounds awesome so far Bro! :D

Re: Rough of a new tune

I think everything meshes pretty well. A little level adjusting with the mix, and this is really great.

Re: Rough of a new tune

i just rolled the volume back, it is funny I used audacity mp3 compression and it totally whacked out the end, the wave file didn't sound like that. I'll re-do it later.

Yeah this Vetta just kicks an amazing amount of butt. I set up a patch with a JCM2000/Plexi mix and used the Fassel wah. The mic helps too, very easy to place and just seems to read the amp better than the SM57 I normally use.

Re: Rough of a new tune

I dug it alot man. It's too bad you couldn't have tracked one of those guitars with some P-90's.

Re: Rough of a new tune

Thought that was very polished and had a great sound. Kept waiting for a kick from a stronger sounding guitar riff though. Can't see there is much wrong to be honest though you could try bringing in the guitar riff at the end from way down low and then going high. Maybe that would provide the 'kick' I was waiting for.

Re: Rough of a new tune

All right I did a quick remix and a new mp3. I still have to get the hang of compressing unmastered tracks but it is far better. Might be a tick bass heavy at 250k though.

Re: Rough of a new tune

Dig it bro! Nice mix of textures, nice meaty gain, a semi-clean edge of breakup and the half-cocked wah. Solid stuff from da Wattster. Rockin' da old skool guitar, sweet tones.

Re: Rough of a new tune

Thank, btw there is nothing to like about the stock Vetta settings.

The software upgrade opens up a few more options but really you just need to sit and work with it, get over the learning curve and get comfortable with what you can do with it. Once you do it is amazing. Some really great cleans and low grit sounds you can't imagine if you only use the presets. At the higher gain side I don't like it as much but I don't generally use them all that much. The effects are really good, if you are a pedal head you'll want more than it has to offer but for a light user of effects like myself it is far more than adequate.

Re: Rough of a new tune

This sucks. How come you can do this and I can't?!
Absolutley great stuff Wattage, even my 10 month old daughter was dancing to it. :)

Nice riff, great sound on the wah solo and everything fits together perfectly - nothing seems tacked on or anything like that. I'm guessing you're a big Slash fan? The whole thing reminded me a lot of him, from the riff to the solo to the great wee quiet ending.

Really great man!
How did you do the drums BTW?

Re: Rough of a new tune

Slash, who's that?!? First time I have ever been told that, whoohoo!!! I must be getting better - old dog, new tricks.

Your 10 month old is in danger of being a topless dancer be careful!!:laugh2: Get the Wiggles on quick!

The drums are tracked live at my drummer's house. We rehearse in his basement. I think we used Audix mics on the toms, SM57 on the snare, SM52 on the kick and some MXL overheads stright into the board. The bass is straight in as well. I use a Tascam 2488 board and I just do these flash mixes into my laptop using Audacity through an ART PhonoPlus USB converter.

Pre-sets suck period, doesn't matter WHICH modelling amp- but especially Line 6 pre-sets :laugh2:

This update sounds better Scott. I think the solo tone sounds a little dark-- or pulled back? I guess I'd prefer it to be more "in your face", but other than that nitpick , this is Great stuff :headbang:

Re: Rough of a new tune

Dude, that's got a great groove. MORE MORE MORE!!!

Had you not said what amp you used, I would've thought you used the Windsor. It sounds that good to me. Hey, I use a modeler too so I get it.
