Just looking at the specs, wouldn't rewiring a Vintage Rails in series, essentially make it a Cool Rails? Or is there something internally that makes them completely different? :)

Actually no. Remember the Vintage Rails only uses half the size of each rail (half metal rail, half plastic?(non ferrous) rail), whereas the Cool Rails uses the full rails on both sides.

You are probably right it may sound a bit closer to a Cool Rails after wiring it in series though...

always thought that the vintage rails were only half metal...that's very cool! Just so you guys know, a vintage rail and a duckbucker are almost the same as are the Lil 59 and the cool rail!

Yeah, the Vintage Rails and the Duckbuckers are identical except for the cosmetics. I think that there is a little more difference between the Lil 59 and the Cool Rails, but they are similar. But just in case I'm wrong, in my defense, I had a Lil 59 and a couple of Cool Rails in different guitars. So that may account for the difference.

nope they are pretty similar. a lil 59 in the middle position of a strat is a KILLER tone

I use a Tele bridge Hot Rail and a Cool Rails in the neck of my #2 Tele. The Cool Rails in the neck is okay but doesn't seem to have enough low end for my taste. My #1 Tele has a full size 59 in the neck slot and has spoiled me for anything else. I've tried a Hot Rails in the neck position of a Strat and was very impressed with the sound. The nice thing about the Hot Rails pickups is that when you lower the volume knob 1\4 down you'll end up with the best quiet single coil sound.

Wixom on here actually has a Hot Rails in the neck of his tele and I assume its a Strat Hot Rails in the neck. Not sure if it's a bridge or neck HR in the neck though. Might be worth a shot.
