Sales are starting to take off...

Well, I never thought my take on a little Marshall clone (Edana) would be so popular. And, I thouight my take on the Matchless Lightning (Franklin) would be way more popular, but no.... not at all.

Let's see, I've taken two orders, took another one, now there is a 4th on the waiting list.

Thanks guys. :beerchug:

Glad to hear it Scott....You deserve it!

I don't think I want to be that busy Evan...

I'll check back in in a year and we'll see how successful it is then. So far, it's a fairly losing proposition with all the different parts I've ordered. Gotta sell a few to make some room in my shop/music room. I've got no room to just sit around and play guitar.

GJ, the amps all have people names. With the exception of the Franklin, I've tried to go with Celtic names. Edana had the word fiery in the name definition and I went with it.

Hey, it works for me, I'm half Irish. :beerchug:

I think you should just focus on that model, and maybe try to do a 3 amp assembly line, so you can do 3 procedures at a time, and possibly get them done quicker. Between your job, traveling, building amps, and keeping your family happy, it sounds like you've got a busy life!! :smack:

Re: Sales are starting to take off...

Aren't you glad I asked for a JTM45 now? :laugh2:
Theres no wonder why people are getting more and more into your amps, incredible quality, and a ridiculously low price. Not too forget customer service.

Re: Sales are starting to take off...

Thanks, but not time for congrats yet. Check back in a year. I can't stand the idea of building 3 at a time. Just can't do it. Something will get lost in the cracks.

But, I am learning to order more parts at once. I should have enough parts soon to knock out 3 more Edanas. I figure worse case I can ebay them. :)

Re: Sales are starting to take off...

pretty exciting eh...!?

good luck and God bless with all your endeavors!

Re: Sales are starting to take off...

its funny - while i always thought it would be less than twice the work to build two guitars at once (ya know - the saw's already set up, so cut 2 bodies out not one) its way harder to keep everything straight
GET BINS SCOTT - LOTS OF BINS

it's just a gain boost... no rocket science involved. it's a tone-shaping switch...

Re: Sales are starting to take off...

congrats and they look great, but you aren't charging enough, IMO.

You are correct. The thing is that I promised that the first 5-10 people that had faith in me would get an Excellent deal. I want to get some amps in peoples hands. I need some references and reviews.

I can guarantee you that the prices will eventually have to go up a bit.

Nice! Im currently building a '67 Marshall SuperBass replica. I have Marstran (www.marstran.com) transformers and choke, weber chassis, and a superb! board built by Ray D. (aka Smallbox at plexipalace.com).. loaded with.... ahem (drumroll)... VINTAGE NOS MUSTARD CAPS :D .. yeah, all the way buddy.

So will think about that tone shaping switch, good idea. Thanks.

At some point, when the reputation gets good enough, I'll be able to charge enough to make it worth my time. I really want to keep things around that $1000 price point.

The biggest issues so far have been with Fed Ex. I do not have time to fight with them over poor shipping performance. Plus, if I have to eat the shipping costs back to Florida, there goes some more of what is admittedly very little profit. I'm counting on fed ex to do the right thing. They have not showed any reason why they won't, but they currently can't find the amp that is supposed to be at my home as of yesterday. UPS is actually worse in my experience.

This is definitely a learn-as-you-go experience. Hopefully, guys like armotron and puckboy will continue to be patient with these growing pains.:smack:

Re: Sales are starting to take off...

Scott, how much gain does the Franklin have? (Please disregard the avatar ;)) Is it like a vintage Vox or is it like a Matchless that will get chimy cleans and singing distortions?

(Heck, I don't even know what I'm talking about, I've never played a vintage Vox nor a Matchless. I just know some of the lead tones that have been associated with Matchless...)

Re: Sales are starting to take off...

I'll go the opposite direction. I'm not sure that the 15w Franklin is QUIET enough for me. I play at low volumes.

I'm certainly not an amp hound (I play PODs, remember?), but I like the Vox, Matchless, and TinyTweed patches from Line6. Franklin sounds like someone I'd like to get to know. Have you thought about using amp corners for protection? What about a closed back? If I use one in church, the open back adds to the stage volume (something we're trying to avoid).
