The grey metal are the anodes. All 12AX7 / ECC83 types have those. Unless you are trying to refer to something else. The JJ is rolled on it's side. If you had the NOS tube in your hand and turned it, it would look the same. There's a gap between the grey anodes in all 12AX# type tubes. If you turn the tube 90 degrees, you won't see that gap.
I'm looking at a JJ ECC83 S Short plates turning it reveals no gap-unlike the EH 12AX7 . It's just a grey block. with tiny slots. There are two round fixing plates at each end of this and the top one connects to a ring inside the head of the tube ..different construction but in the end does the same job. before closing the cab back I noticed the electroharmonix did not light up as the JJ did ..but they warmed up so are ok and sound good
