Santana's Scales?

Hi guys, I'm trying to learn Black Magic Woman, and I was just wondering if anyone knows what scales Santana uses for his intro and solo for the song.

Well as far as I can remember it's basically a D minor blues scale with occasonal notes from the D dorian (C major) and D melodic minor scale.

Hope that helps. :)

yeah, thanks a lot . . . i recognized some D minor pentatonic and aeolian stuff, but I didn't try to use anything from the dorian mode.

Don't get me thinking/talking modes, it just makes my head hurt :laugh2: . The song is all played in Dm. Mostly pentatonic minor but he does use the E a few times and Bb (but the Bb only against the Gm chord). The only other note he uses once or twice is Ab - the 'blues' tone of the D blues scale (b5).
