Saw Demo Of New Line 6 Bogner Yesterday

Re: Saw Demo Of New Line 6 Bogner Yesterday

I see some of you have already made your minds up. Do you always do that with gear you've never played, or is it just anything that says Line 6 on the front?

To me, they're just tools. There's probably 40 different kinds of saws and hammers.

Re: Saw Demo Of New Line 6 Bogner Yesterday

I have a Vetta and I love the amp. Some models suck, some are great. I don't like the Voxes by themselves, but layered with other amps they are very useful. I don't really look at it as an exact copy of a particular amp as much as an amp that gets you in the territory. You can get pretty close if you actually have the real thing to use as a template, but otherwise I just use the Vetta to invent amps that I think sound great. These amps aren't lame at all. Not to me anyway. However, like most tube amps, this amp really sounds great cranked. Low it still sounds good. I'm using a H&K Triamp cabinet with it and Celestion G12H80 speakers so maybe my cab setup is better than the stock Line 6? My speakers are the same but the cab sounds better to me. Some of the Fenders are outstanding now that they've upgraded the models and lots of the overdrive and distortion amps sound great. Like the originals? No, not at all. The new Orange amp model is horrible imo. Some of the plexi models are horrible, some are pretty good. Boogies really come to life with programming--as long as you're looking for Boogieish, and not exact replica Boogie, lol.

In the end, I'm sure this new Bogner/Line 6 amp is just like the Vetta in that you need to spend a LOT of time programming it to get the tones you want. The stock patches usually are pretty lame, but with tweaking they come to life. It was the same thing with the Yamah DX-7 synth when it came out. The stock patches stunk. I was like, what's the big deal about this thing? Then I heard one that was programmed right and WOW what a difference.

They need to come out w/ something where you can select the preamp and output stage individually as well as combine multiple preamps and output sections.

I was a little suprised but Line 6 wasn't at this years AES show. They had attended the last few shows & it stuck out because I remember being pummled by about a half dozen guys playing the sitar simulations on the Vari-Axe while I was asking 'em questions...

Gibson was there with all sorts of guitars and the tabletop Vox modelers...

Rather interesting considering it was a trade show for producers & audio engineers.
