Schaller Roller Bridge

Finally got my Schaller roller bridge for my Gretsch today. Got it all installed and set up. It's made a huge difference in the playability of that guitar. Tuning stability is perfect, action is great, and I barely had to change the intonation as it was almost perfect already. The bridge fit on my Gretsch perfectly, and the adjustable string spacing on that bridge is awesome. I'd definitely recommend this bridge to anybody who wants to try it. Now on to pictures:

Sorry for the crappy pics, my camera sucks, but you get the picture. The bridge has definitely improved the overall tone and playability of the guitar over the stock bridge, where the saddles had grooves cut into them, and the original bridge was all scratched up and rusty.

Re: Schaller Roller Bridge

I have several of those.

Great bridge, and the real 3D saddle adjustments allows you to play all kinds of strupid tricks, starting from Gibson-spacing for humbuckers to correcting a neck that isn't quite at the right angle.

Nice hand rest for palm muting, too.

it's definitely a comfortable bridge to play, and the adjustments are endless. It also looks pretty cool.

Re: Schaller Roller Bridge

I like the Schaller 3-D bridge but I wish that they would offer a version of it with the necessary holes for through body stringing.

mrturtle, is there any special reason why you have mounted the bridge so far away from the pickguard? I suspect that it could have gone a few millimetres nearer to the neck and still been comfortably within its adjustment range.

I mounted it where the original holes were from the original bridge

Re: Schaller Roller Bridge

man, after playing this thing a lot more, especially unplugged, I've noticed such a huge difference in the natural tone of the guitar. It's so much more lively with the new bridge. It's quite an amazing difference. I'm thinking some of the difference comes from the fact that it's a top loader opposed to the original which was a string through, and the Schaller is a little heavier than the original.

Re: Schaller Roller Bridge

I sometimes have the feeling it might make things a little too boomy.

But I can't find that original brass toploader to A/B the question.

Of course lots of people would love nothing more than that boomy :)
