Schecter Blackjack SLS

Hey all,

Just wondering how many of you have played one of the models in the SLS family? I know someone on this forum has bought one (I think it was desertdude?)

In particular, im looking at the avenger (which only comes with the passives, which is fine, as I prefer them)

Thanks

In my opinion, buying a Schecter is a great way to turn like $700 into $300 or a guitar you get bored of and can never resell.

I love their designs on paper. I wish they would make ONE that sounded and felt good.

Fair enough, luckily not everyone has similar tastes or music would be boring :)

Re: Schecter Blackjack SLS

The Schecter Blackjack SLS Avenger looks really cool, and I have played some decent Schecters (mostly Hellraisers). My favorite was a Schecter V, but that is not really related to the topic. I would recommend going to your local guitar store and playing a Schecter of comparable price. I am an ESP guy, so I am going to recommend that you take a look at an LTD of comparable price too.

Re: Schecter Blackjack SLS

I prefer the necks on the LTDs to the necks on the Schecters myself.....

The lure to these new Schecters to me is the Sustainiac in the neck....that's a boner inducing feature for a guy like me...

Re: Schecter Blackjack SLS

These SLS came out for the dudes out here who like Schecter guitars but hate their huge glossy and sticky neck! I had an Hellraiser Tempest for a year or two and loved the way it was built, felt solid, but ended up selling it cuz of the neck and the EMG's. :/

I tried an SLS C-1 a few weeks ago and it has pretty much ALL of the features I want in a guitar, except this HORRIBLE fretboard inlay. The neck feels much more like an Ibanez to me. If I can sell my Ibanez S470DXQM I will surely be looking up for a Solo-6 SLS in satin black or the new crimson red finish!

Oh man, you perfectly explained what I've always thought.

I really like some of their designs, generally speaking, but the guitars themselves just look and feel like they should cost about half what they do.

Re: Schecter Blackjack SLS

No all the Blackjacks models come with Blackouts, but the SLS come with an option of either passives or actives. I prefer the actives, but that's because I don't like the FS and the jazz.

Yeah the Blackjack SLS series is about the options, style - Blackouts or Full Shred/Jazz and Floyd Rose or without, multiple colors - that sort of thing.

Re: Schecter Blackjack SLS

I don't like the fretboard inlay, but I could easilt live with it if the guitar suits me otherwise, unfortunatly, due to the fact that they're a new series, they're yet to arrive in Australia

Re: Schecter Blackjack SLS

Many of their models that would interest me have some kind of inlay that turn me off. I did have one of the C1 Artists back in the day and it was a very cool guitar. Played good, sounded great (Duncan 59/Jb). I thought it was a great deal too. $499 with Duncans and Tonepros.
They have gone up in price as everything now. I sold it as the neck was alittle thicker than I prefer, but otherwise it inspired me when I played it.

I love the LTDs too. great bang for the buck.. The EC1000T ctm is a beast. None of the abalone bling, full thickness body like a reg LP.

Re: Schecter Blackjack SLS

As for those saying to check out some LTD guitars, I will when I can, but there ain't much choice around here

Re: Schecter Blackjack SLS

the only downside is that I don't really like the strat and superstrat shapes, and that is LTD's main shape, along with the singlecut shape, and I want something different and unique
